State Senator Mike Folmer said he plans to introduce legislation requiring the Department of Education to submit an annual report to the General Assembly regarding its contracts with the state's 29 Intermediate Units.
The bill would require a listing of all contracts executed by the Department of Education with each IU. Information would include the purpose of the contract; how the IU was selected; its cost and source of funding. All employees, contractors and agents involved in the contract would be specified and their compensation detailed. In addition, the report would explain how each IU was selected for the contract, and how the department evaluated the effectiveness of its performance.
