YOU WOULD think that Gov. Corbett had come up with some intriguing new data to justify plundering public-school budgets for voucher money.

FOR THE school-choice movement, a voucher system giving parents the ability to send their children - and with them our tax money - to the public, private, parochial, charter or cyber schools that they select, is the latest holy grail in the pursuit of a quality education for Pennsylvania kids.

Too many of our children are locked into public schools that are failing them. In recent years, the state has invested in improving our public schools through a formula whose goal is to provide the necessary support for students to meet state-achievement criteria. Funding the formula has consistently improved student achievement, but concerns about the pace of change and the adequacy of funding continue.
