HARRISBURG (Aug. 19) -- In addition to bringing the hammer down on any departmental spending increases for next year's budget, Gov. Tom Corbett's 2012-2013 budget policy guidelines released late last week told the Department of Education to make school funding more portable.

SCRANTON – With only 17 days until the academic year begins, representatives from local school districts attended a state House Democratic Policy Committee hearing atScranton High School on Tuesday to discuss the damage they said were caused by cuts to public education in Gov. Tom Corbett's 2011 budget.
