HARRISBURG -- Momentum is growing in the General Assembly for legislation that would prevent your local school district from significantly increasing your property taxes without your say.

Gov. Tom Corbett is proposing cuts in spending in the 2011-12 state budget that would amount to more than a $1 billion loss to public education. This equates to a potential loss of more than $2.3 million to the Cumberland Valley School District and more than $12 million to all Cumberland County schools.

KIPP charter schools open up to invite credibility

KIPP Philadelphia Charter Schools recently launched Open Book. With this project, KIPP is putting financial records, budgets, salary information, audits, test scores, minutes of charter board meetings, and biographies of board members on its website for the public to view
