Members of the Pennsylvania School Boards Association elected new officers for 2011 at the recent PASA-PSBA School Leadership Conference, the joint annual conference of the Pennsylvania School Boards Association and the Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators, Oct. 12-15 in Hershey.


PSBA White Paper Recommends Changes to Charter School Funding

The Education Research and Policy Center of the Pennsylvania School Boards Association issued its third white paper this week. This is the second white paper that's examined Pennsylvania's charter schools.
The second white paper by the ERPC (October 2009) examined the performance of charter schools in the commonwealth, while the current publication indicates that the funding formula for charter schools needs to be overhauled in order to make it more equitable for tax payers and for school districts.

The commonwealth’s continuing investment in early childhood education is providing a strong foundation for young children to start school ready to learn and boosting the academic success of at-risk children, according to the Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts year-end report released today by acting Education Secretary Thomas E. Gluck.
